Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC):
Maintaining the momentum of quality consciousness is crucial in Higher Educational Institutions. Internal Quality Assurance Cell in fact, is conceived as a mechanism to build and ensure a quality culture at the institutional level. Every Higher Educational Institution should have an Internal Quality Assurance System with appropriate structure and processes and with enough flexibility to meet the diverse needs of the stakeholders. The internal quality assurance mechanism of the institution may be called “Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC)”. The IQAC is meant for planning, guiding and monitoring quality assurance and quality enhancement activities of the Higher Educational Institution. The IQAC may channelize and systematize the efforts and measures of an institution towards academic excellence. It should be yet another hierarchical structure or record keeping exercise in the institution; it would be a facilitative and participative organ of the institution. The IQAC should become a driving force for ushering in quality by working out intervention strategies to remove deficiencies and enhance quality. Our college, Bajkul Milani Mahavidyalaya has an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) which is duly constituted following the UGC guidelines to meet the diverse needs of the stakeholders and to fulfill the specific objectives of the cell. The IQAC of the college was established in accordance with the guidelines of NAAC on 3rd March, 2007. The IQAC meet at least three to four times every year. In IQAC meetings, a discussion regarding implementing of various recommendations of the NAAC peer team is done and the relevant resolutions are forwarded to the Governing Body for implementation. Implementation is done in collaboration with all sections of the college. Meetings of the IQAC members with teaching, non-teaching staff members and students are also held to exchange views and communicate with all stakeholders and to make them well aware about the activities of IQAC for Quality enhancement.
